About:
The Shirley Tool Shed is a community based not for profit social enterprise that provides affordable access to tools for home maintenance, gardening, building, workshop, car repairs, and DIY projects. Check out our inventory of tools.
Cost:
A membership fee of $20 gives you 12 months access to the 400+ tools and equipment in our tools shed.
An additional maintenance fee is charged per borrow for some items. (see info below for details)
Additional maintenance fee, per week of loan, for electrical items ($5), petrol items ($10), and high maintenance items ($15 to $25 depending on the item).
Payments can be made either by online banking to 01 -1158-0057909-46 with STS and your name as payment details, or credit card via Stripe in your Shirley Tool Shed account, or in cash at the Shirley Tool Shed.
Membership:
A membership is required to borrow tools from the Shirley Tool Shed. The tools and items are intended for personal home use only.
The tools are not available for professional or commercial or business use.
How to Join - Next Steps

If that is not possible, you can join by visiting the Shirley Tool Shed during our opening hours.
To join online follow these steps:
- ‘Create Account’ from the link at top right of this page.
- Fill in your details, read and accept the Privacy Statement and click Submit. (NOTE: remember your user name and password)
- Click the ‘confirm’ email address link at top left of page.
- Go to your own email account, to confirm your email address.
- You can now log into the Shirley Tool Shed site and reserve tools.
- When you log in you will be presented a Borrower Agreement and Liability Waiver to read and accept.
- Pay your membership fee, either by online banking to 01 -1158-0057909-46 with STS and your name as payment details, or credit card via Stripe in your Shirley Tool Shed account, or in cash at the Shirley Tool Shed.
- You will need to show ID and proof of address when you pick up your first lot of tools.
Requests:
Let us know if we do not have tools or items you need, and we will try to get it for you. Email the coordinator with your requests.
Donations:
If you have tools or household items you no longer need, contact the coordinator to donate them for community use.
Volunteers:
The Shirley Tool Shed is volunteer run, so let us know if you are interested in being part of our Tool Shed crew.
